If anyone has any suggestions to add to the list or want to point out a technical reason as to why even trying to convert CD image files will never work for the purporses of emulating PSX games, please warn me and relieve me of this work. I also plan on testing the results on RetroArch and post them here as an edit or a comment.
I gave preference to command-line programs, as it's easier to convert files in bulk this way. In any case, here I document what software is available to make these kinds of CD image conversions under Linux (all of them legally free). I am already aware that converting from X to CUE/BIN never works for PSX emulation, as I have done some conversions and tried emulating the resulting files without success (until now). In the past, I mostly played my ISO ROMs on ePSXe, but recently I decided to experiment with RetroArch, which works with CUE/BIN file pairs.
I have a collection of PSX ROMs in many formats, such as ISO, MDF/MDS, IMG/SUB/CCD, ECM and NRG.
